Bio
Ben grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and studied at University of King's College and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He trained in synthetic chemistry of heterocycles and natural products with Prof. Alison Thompson. During doctoral studies at University of Toronto, Ben conducted research with Prof. Andrei Yudin on small heterocycles, amphoteric molecules, and macrocyclization reactions. He also was a Visiting Scientist at GlaxoSmithKline's Department of Chemical Biology in Durham, North Carolina. Following graduate studies, Dr. Rotstein trained with Dr. Neil Vasdev in small molecule PET radiochemistry and translational imaging at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. There he held an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship and was later appointed Instructor in the Department of Radiology. Returning to Canada in 2016, Ben joined the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology at University of Ottawa as Assistant Professor and started his research group at University of Ottawa Heart Institute. His current research interests include synthetic radiochemistry, radiotracer development for cardiovascular imaging, and peripheral neuroimaging.

Undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral research trainee positions are available.
Highly motivated undergraduate students seeking research experience are encouraged to contribute to existing projects in our lab:
Graduate students train in synthetic, medicinal and radiochemistry, as well as tissue and animal imaging. Graduate-level researchers can expect to contribute to several projects in the lab, including leadership roles. Students enrol in graduate programs at uOttawa in either Faculty of Science or Medicine:
Postdoctoral researchers with demonstrated experience in synthetic chemistry or molecular imaging may be considered. Prior experience in radiochemistry and imaging are desirable, but not essential. Please include a CV and reference letters or contacts with expressions of interest.
